Thankful for...

This Thanksgiving we will be with the In-Laws. I know, I know, most would say, "ewwww" and some like their In-Laws more than their birth families... Me, well, lets just say they are definitely growing on me. We had somewhat of a rocky start- trust me they know this too it is no secret- and now they are starting to grow on me. I can finally have a conversation with Curt's Mom and "we" are nice to each other and seem to get along. There was not too many months ago where we would barely look at each other. I fell like I am finally starting to fit somewhere in this new family of mine. I am looking forward to the Holidays, while it is always hard to be away from ones own family, I am excited about the traditions that I will be able to help with every year and enjoying my new spot in this family!

** Did I mention, that my MIL (mom-in-law) agreed to let me cook the turkey this year. I hope I told her it is my first time EVER to cook a turkey.... Wow, I hope we have a back-up! And, I hope my Internet research has served me well.... I guess we shall see, I will let you know on Friday....

***If you have any bird cooking tips, let me know... I just might need them...

Happy Thanksgiving Ya'll....

If you missed it, I am thankful for FAMILY, not just the in-laws, all of my family- I would not be who I am with out any one of them....

  1. My Mil and I had a rough go when she found out we were engaged. It wasn't until I had Jentry over 4 yrs later that things started to warm up.

Good luck with the turkey! Not sure if I would call this a tip but the only thing I do is cook the bird breasts down. That way they stay nice and juicy, I baste not! Man that sounds really bad. Sorry! ;)

  2. Good Luck with the turkey! Sorry that I don't have any tips as I have never done one either.

BTW, did you get the email with my address for the scarf? The email address you sent got kicked back so I just replyed back to the one from the comment on my blog (a netzero account). If you didn't get it, come on over again and leave a comment and I will resend!

Happy Thanksgiving and can't wait to hear about the 1st Turkey!

  3. Ooh, I love cooking the turkey. This is my 3rd year doing it. My only tip, and I promise it's a good one, is to brine the turkey. And then remember that a brined turkey cooks about 20-30 minutes faster than a normal turkey. :) You won't regret it. It will be so tender and juicy.

  4. Oooh good luck! I'm sure it will be great. Check out allrecipes.com - they have awesome recipes but you can also search by top rated ones and then check out people's comments who have actually followed the recipe with their tips. I love that site!

    Good Luck!

  6. Family makes ones life - the strange and crazy relationships that we have. I too am thankful for family! We will be away from all our family this year and so I treasure each little tradition!

Turkeys are quite forgiving! You can do it!

    A magical day to you!
