{*me*} Re-visited- post #300

I posted last week about {me}! At the time of the post I had a lot going on in my life and I was just spent. It felt like every time I started cleaning, it would all get messed up, the laundry kept piling up even though I was doing several loads... I felt like I was in the movie "Groundhog Day". I just wanted to think about me, to talk about me, to like me... My life is centered around my boys, my darling boys, Curt and Mason. While I love them dearly and spend every single hour of every single day thinking about them and do-ing for them, I just wanted something to be about me. It does not bother me in the slightest, as being a wife and a mother is the job I signed up for. I love it and would not change my life, EVER!

I love the "comment love" I got from you all. Some of you were concerned, some were witty, some were sweet and some silly! Thanks so much for stopping in to tell me your thoughts on how you do for "you!" It is apparent to me now that I need "me" time. I spent a lot of time this weekend doing me things; crafting, reading, making jewelry, blogging & taking 2 baths... It was so much fun. I know, you are wondering when I had so much time to do all of this stuff??? Well, I did it all during nap & bed time. I stayed up late just having fun all by myself. It was fun, I was a little sleepy, but I had a great time re-connecting with me.

Here are some of my fav-o-rite comments from my caring bloggy friends!

What do I do for me????? Hmmmm that's a good one. This is going to sound dumb but I love going to the store ALONE and giving myself french tips while watching my TV shows at night. Yeah having typed it out it all sounds pretty lame, but when your the mom of 5 it's the little things....;)
Rachel
Ps. Great post, we all needed this.

Rachel, do not be silly! Girl, you are the Mom of 5, it is a wonder you have time to do french tips. You know I think you are "Super Mom" anyways... Thanks for the comment!

What a great post and what a great reminder. I think for us all to be better mommies we have to be better to ourselves...at least occasionally!!

Liz, thanks so much for the comment. You hit the nail on the head. It does make me feel like a better Mommy when I get to focus on myself a little every now and then.

Mine's not too creative. But sometimes going on a nice long drive with loud music on does it for me! Especially this time of year when its a bit cold and the leaves are beautiful. But the windows down a little, get a hot cup of coffee/apple cider and just drive a little with some great music! ...

Jenny, I totally agree... I love cider, my favorite is Carmel Apple Spice from Starbucks... YUM! I love driving in my car with the music up, especially when I get to listen to "adult" music.
To all: if you get a chance head on over to Jenny's blog. I went to High School with her. She started up a blog not long ago, she and her husband are adorable.

I'm terrible about this......but, I say hire a babysitter for a few hours and just go do anything. Anything alone. I'd go to the library or a book store. :) This balance thing is tough! :)

Angie, great idea... I really need to find a good babysitter in my town. I have never really hired one, at least I need one for back up!

Oh geesh...sorry, but I'm fresh out of thing for ME time...I have a 2 AND 3 year old. Is there really such a thing as ME time?! Yikes. Let me know. I'm having ME time right now while blogging, does that count? Laundry needs to be done and the counter is a mess...and I'm blogging. That counts in my book :-)

Lindsay, yes blogging does count... Blogging is one of my most favorite things to do for me. I love it! Thanks for the comment.

You are right - more needs to be done so we don't lose ourselves in the MOM of us! I forget about ME all the time and only focus on MOM

You are so right... I also believe we can all do better if we are able to keep in touch with who we really are. Remembering what lights a fire in me, keeps me going!

Not often enough, but I DO take the occasional girls night out. Even if its I just leave Jon with the kids so I can meet a friend for dessert after the kids are in bed its totally worth it. It helps.Good luck. I wish I could say that the stress goes away when the kids get older, but it doesn't. It just changes. But I KNOW you will get through it all with flying colors!!

Cecily, thanks so much for the words of wisdom...

This is going to sound selfish, but I have a lot of "me time." It will slow down once Baby gets here, but for now, here are my ideas: I go to the gym every morning. While I'm there I watch the Today show and Rachael Ray. In the evenings, while James is studying, I usually curl up on the couch and read books and write in my journal. Sometimes just turning up my music and dancing around is fun, or going for a drive up the canyon is great too. And you'll hunt me down for this one..i LoVe going to get pedicures. :)

Amy, you are allowed all the pedicures you want, you are preggo and that allows you as many as your little heart desires. I am so jealous of you- you get to drive through the canyon... That sounds very relaxing and fun!

I wish I had miracle words to offer you. And just remember that NO ONE is a perfect mom 100% of the time. Whoever is giving you that illusion is LYING!I enjoy reading at night, its great downtime, and me time. And I try to turn off the tv more, it seems to help. I hope that you are able to find something that helps keeps the stress down. Remember that its ok and perfectly normal to ask for help! I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who are more than willing to help you. :)

Amanda, you are so sweet... Thanks for being so caring... I miss you and cannot wait to see you next year. You are so grounded and that makes being around you super FUN!

Wow, I hear you! I have a two year old too, and some days he drives me NUTS. He can be so stubborn. What do I do for me? I try to squeeze in a little exercise.. I take a shower and fix my hair... I blog while my kids nap. It's so hard sometimes though. Hang in there!

Honey Mommy, I agree, fixing my hair sometimes feels like "me time" it just depends on what kind of day I am having... Oh, I love going to my Zumba classes, that is definitely great for me.

I feel this post. If only I could implement it I would probably be a much better Momma, but remember who you are. What do you enjoy doing? Find those things and make the time. I love sewing and crafting. Last weekend my husband gave me pretty much the entire day Saturday to go to the office and work on whatever I wanted to do. I made my daughter a coat and two pairs of pants and my son two pairs of pants. The rest of the weekend was fabulous. I wasn't all stressed out. I was actually fun to be around and the Husband noticed. I'm not saying it's possible every weekend, but what about once a month, just a nice break to do what YOU enjoy. That's lovely. Good luck finding something to give you that mental (and physical) recharge that we moms need. :)

Kelli, you have a sweet husband... Wow, you had one productive weekend! Thanks so much for your comment!

You shouldn't have asked. I go to the bathroom all by myself! I'm terrible at this. Blogging is about it, but when I'm getting all stressed out, I try to get some time alone to just relax and thing about what can I just let go, and what do I need to do
most.

Shellie, that is too funny. When Mason is not home and I can actually go to the bathroom by myself it feels like a real treat. When I was a kid it seems like I was never wanted to bother my Mom until she was in the bathroom, it would drive her crazy... I am sure the more children I have the harder it will be to have a child-free restroom!

Ok, so if you did not notice, I just linked some pretty cool blogs. All of which are on my daily list to read.

Also, on a very FUN note: this is my 300th post... Can you believe that? I can't!
